“I“An honorable human relationship — that is, one in which two people have the right to use the word “love” — is a process, delicate, violent, often terrifying to both persons involved, a process of refining the truths they can tell each other.
It is important to do this because it breaks down human self-delusion and isolation.
It is important to do this because in doing so we do justice to our own complexity.
It is important to do this because we can count on so few people to go that hard way withus.” – Adrienne Rich
Persona is a theatrical circus show, an acrobatic tango between four people. It is a dance on the floor and in the air, built on trust and control and the intent of the other. The show is both a praise to vulnerability and a call for connection.
Four girlfriends are drinking tea, but something’s not quite right. Their gestures repeat themselves. You have to stand back and let their bodies talk. In this first group show, the women of Naga Collective confront their desires and their instincts. Persona is a story about their relationships, their weaknesses, their strengths and the masks they wear. A Chinese pole, ropes and bodies that bend and twist, seeking out their limits, that are attracted and repelled, between tenderness and brutality. In a minimalist setting, the four acrobats take on this challenge, spilling over with physical emotions.
